Silk Naturals Colors for a Cure 2010

Silk Naturals released "Colors for a Cure" a couple of weeks ago. They will be donating a portion of the sales to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research until November 7th.

Unforgettable is a dupe of Carpe Diem (CFC 2008). Aware was the GWP that week. Homecoming Queen, Mojave, and Prowl were reissued GWP's.

Unforgettable is a special limited edition Black Label lip color. It's only available until November 7th.

This is a beautiful semi-opaque rosy pink color with a touch of real 24k gold.

Aware is a lovely dusty pink with some golden shimmer.

Mojave is a shimmery medium-light golden tan.

Homecoming Queen is a semi-sheer pearly pale gold.

Prowl is a dark rich chocolate brown with red and purple highlights.

Unforgettable costs $9.95, but $5 of each purchase will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The eye shadows are $4.00 each, and $1 of each sale will be donated as well.

Are you getting any of these colors? What's your favorite product, company, or event that makes a contribution to breast cancer research?

Silk Naturals Fall 2010 Tweeds Lippies!

What? More SN Fall stuff? Of course, I had to get the lippies too. ;)

No flash:

With flash:

My bare lips... sorry for the slightly chapped lips.

Autumn Ember is a medium-deep plummy red with gorgeous golden shimmers. However, it settles into the fine lines and accentuates chapped lips, so be sure to wear a lip balm prior.

Ceylon Spice is a deep warm brown. It does have a bit of shimmer in it (click the image to enlarge) so it provides a very subtle shine. I didn't order this one because I didn't think it would work for me, but I received a free sample with my order, so I tried it, and I actually liked it. The texture is rich and creamy, applies smoothly, and very moisturizing.

Lola is my favorite out of the bunch! It's a semi-sheer strawberry red with pale lavender-lilac shimmer. I love it!

Seedy is a sheer raspberry without any shimmer.

Winter Rose is a shimmery light pink. I was really excited to see this one get reissued. :)

What's your favorite fall lip color (of any brand)?

Silk Naturals Fall 2010 Tweeds Eye Shadows

I've been meaning to post some swatches of these new eye shadows, but my current work schedule doesn't allow me time to take pics in daylight except on the weekends, and the weekends can get pretty busy with family stuff sometimes. So, I went ahead and started taking pics in the evening.

Here are the new Fall 2010 Tweeds eye shadows.

These are all in semi-matte or "suede" finish with just a touch of shimmer... except for Faerie, which was the GWP that week. For details, click on images to enlarge. :)

Bailey is a slightly warm pearly tan shade with golden orange highlights.

Berwick is deep bluish purple with flecks of golden shimmer.

Bristol is a very pale creamy, tawny color with very fine blue, purple and orange highlights.

Harris is a neutral deep golden brown with golden bronze shimmer.

Inverness is a muted lavender with pink and golden shimmer.

Regent is a deep neutral grayish teal with multi-colored shimmers.

And finally... York is a bluish gray with some golden shimmer.

Overall, I love the suede-like texture. They glide over lids smoothly and evenly. Some of them are a bit more pearly or shimmery than I expected, but not overly obvious. I usually go for bright colors, but these are perfect for work. That doesn't mean boring though because each color is so much more complex in person. And as with most SN eye shadows, these are all silky, blend effortlessly, crease-resistant, and long lasting.

Do you own any Silk Naturals eye shadows? What are your favorite colors, combos, etc.?

Review: Lumiere Cosmetics Loose Eye Pigments

Lumiere Cosmetics is one of the first few indie mineral makeup companies I've tried. I'm a big fan of their blushes and brushes, but I haven't tried their loose eye pigments until recently.

Here are the colors I got.

For details, click on images to enlarge. :)

  • Butterfly Blue is a shimmery purple tinged with pink and blue sheen. This is an amazing shade with a rich color pay-off.
  • Cat's Eye is a velvety medium-deep sage green with golden brown undertones. I love this one!
  • Peacock Blue is a super bright blue with green undertones and a metallic finish. Very pigmented and intense!
  • Peppermint Patti is a shimmery dark brown with green sparkles. This shade has some fall out, but it's not too bad.
  • Sheer Gold is a shimmery gold with a metallic finish. This goes on quite sheer, but it's buildable.
  • Tutti Frutti is a soft pink with a milky pearlescent sheen. A very pretty shade!

Overall, I do like these eye pigments. The colors are rich, vibrant and opulent. The texture is silky smooth, which makes application a breeze. With a primer, they last about 6 hours without any creasing. The prices are competitive at $8.00 for a large 2g jar or $5.00 mini 1g jar. So, they are definitely worth checking out. :)

So, have you tried Lumiere Cosmetics yet? How did you like the products?

Disclaimer: These products were sent to me free of charge for review purposes. This is my honest opinion and no monetary compensation was received for my opinion.

Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. lll Review & Swatches

I was really looking forward to the release of Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III. I just recently got into Urban Decay this year, so I missed out on the first two volumes. I did get my hands on the Alice in Wonderland palette though, and I was really impressed, so I had to have this one. :)

I love the NYC-inspired pop-up illustration. I think it's well designed, but I don't think I'll be able to use the mirror at all because (1) the lid won’t stay open, and (2) the pictures get in the way.

There are little LED lights in the background, so the palette lights up.

This palette includes 16 eyeshadows, 2 mini eyeliners, and 1 mini Primer Potion. There are seven new shades (Loaded, Kush, Rockstar, Money, Bordello, Radium, and Suspect). In addition, there are two Sephora-exclusive shades (Haight and Psychedelic Sister). The rest are permanent shades (Perversion, Uzi, Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Last Call, Maui Wowie, Smog, and Snatch).

Here are some swatches. For details, click on images to enlarge. :)

Perversion is a matte (but not flat) deep jet black.
Uzi is a silvery white with big silver glitter.
Loaded is a deep emerald green with black undertones.
Kush is a bright shimmering grassy green with golden undertones.
Midnight Cowboy Rides Again is a pinky beige with loads of gold and silver glitter.
Last Call is a reddish plum with flecks of shimmer.
Rockstar is a dark brownish-purple with a metallic sheen.
Money is a soft seafoam green with a metallic finish.

More swatches...

Haight is a medium tone of teal with more blue and a shimmer finish.
Maui Wowie is a sandy gold with silver and gold glitter.
Smog is a rich antique bronze with a golden sheen.
Bordello is a purplish-pink with golden undertones.
Radium is a vibrant royal blue with a slight metallic finish.
Snatch is a frosty light peachy-pink with some glitter.
Suspect is a medium golden taupe with a pearly sheen.
Psychedelic Sister is a bright purple with a frosty sheen.

And here are the eyeliners...

Zero is a deep jet black.
Ransom is a bright bluish purple.

Overall, I think this is another great palette. The eyeshadows are all very smooth and highly pigmented. And if you'll consider the price, quality, and what's included in this palette, it really is a great value.

So, what do you think of this palette? Are you getting one for yourself?
